Communication

Straight forward, no nonsense talk is a strength and we pride ourselves on our honest and direct approach. Many issues arise because managers are unsure of how to handle a subject issue – poor performance, unsuitable conduct or appearance is common theme.  Tough decision-making is a part of everyday business life and we’re not afraid to take the bull by the horns and have those difficult conversations whilst maintaining an empathetic approach.

Our main aim is to help you establish and manage good working practices to support your organisation and its employees. This theme runs throughout the employment relationship from creating policies and handbooks to recruiting the right staff and settling disputes, we are there every step of the way.

Behind Moss HR

Joanne is the founder of Moss HR.  Joanne’s career shifted from finance to HR in 1999 when she fell into the role of HR Officer for a warehousing and distribution company.  Several roles and industries later, and choosing not to return to the full time corporate world after starting a family, Joanne decided to work independently as an HR Consultant.  In 2019, she took the next step and formed Moss HR Limited.

Joanne is a Chartered member of the CIPD and her experience covers many industries including education and schools, motor retail, warehousing and distribution, hospitality and the not-for-profit sector, Joanne has a wealth of knowledge built up over her 20-year career in HR.

Joanne’s style is very much hands-on, with sound business acumen, she gets to the root of the issue quickly, coming up with solutions right for your organisation.

Kathryn, a Chartered Member of the CIPD, joined Moss HR from a varied and extensive HR background in May 2023. Having started out in hospitality management she decided to pursue the people side of business and re-trained starting her HR career with Selfridges in London supporting their food and catering areas (and their turnover whilst making the most of the staff discount!) A couple of decades later, having worked at O2, Countrywide Estate Agents and Virgin Media in a wide variety of HR functions and roles, she decided to move to the lovely Suffolk countryside with her family.

She then spent a couple of years doing freelance HR work for small businesses and individuals including case management, writing policies and guides and helping companies navigate the challenging impact of the pandemic in 2020.

Happily ensconced in Suffolk with dogs, cats and a flock of chickens Kathryn is now enjoying working with Moss HR providing practical advice and support to our clients helping them deal with any people challenges that come up.
